Battling COVID-19 in Schools
Schools across the country are scrambling to ensure a safe, clean learning environment for students of all ages as they begin bringing students back for the 2020-2021 school year. School systems like Elkhart Community Schools have taken advantage of funding through the CARES Act, which supports the schools’ investment in sanitary items. Clause 7 supports the use of funds for water coolers, stating that, “Purchasing supplies to sanitize and clean the facilities of a local educational agency, including buildings by such agency,” are encouraged.
Additionally, Clause 12 of the Act specifically states, “Other activities that are necessary to maintain the operation of and continuity of services in local educational agencies and continuing to employ existing staff of the local education agency.”
