When CDC experts released findings that the COVID-19 virus spreads through tiny water droplets in the air, people flocked to find anything that would help purify and clean the air. Data showed water droplets could be stopped by using masks and social distancing, but what about through the use of HEPA filters? These multi-fiber filters are surprisingly good at purifying your air and removing particles smaller than your typical cold, flu, and now COVID-19 virus.
Here at Artesian Bottleless Water & Air Purification, we’ve taken air purification up a notch by providing schools, medical facilities, offices, and gyms with certified space technology and NASA-approved HEPA filtration. To help understand how HEPA filters work, let’s look at this technology and how your home or business would benefit.
How Does HEPA Work?
“HEPA” stands for “high-efficiency particulate air” filter, and while the name may sound fancy, these filters are not new. In fact, HEPA filters were invented right alongside the atomic bomb back in the 1940s. These filters are mesh screens of randomly placed fabrics made from either cloth or synthetic materials. The filter works by pushing air through the membrane, either by suction or through a fan. While forcing the air in your home or office through this tight-knit mesh requires a great deal of energy and force, it results in trapping odors and air particles like pollen, dust, pet dander, bacteria, and viruses.
Still, not just any type of air filter can be labeled a HEPA filter. In fact, there are some strict requirements that these filters must meet to claim they’re HEPA filters. In the United States, these filters must remove more than 99.97% of particles in the air, while in the UK only 99.95% of particles must be removed.
Can I Use an Air Purifier and Humidifier Together?
Why, yes! You can use both an air purifier like our Pure & Clean and a humidifier in the same room. Both machines work well together to keep your air clean and breathable. While many people confuse the two, it’s easy to remember the difference. A humidifier raises the humidity in the room, while a purifier purifies the air that passes through. If you use both of them simultaneously, just make sure you keep them on opposite sides of the room to allow optimal airflow.
How Do I Select the Right Purifier?
HEPA filters are pretty common and standard, and you can find one in just about every air purifier on the market. They are usually small enough to be portable, and you can move them from room to room. Still, there is something out there that’s better than HEPA, and it’s only found with Artesian!
Our three air purification units (Pure & Clean, Beyond Guardian Air, and the Hydroxyl Blaster) use certified space technology – the same air purification technology NASA uses on the International Space Station. Each unit destroys over 99% of the surface and airborne pollutants. They are whisper-quiet and run 24/7, working hard to keep you, your staff, and your family healthy by removing viruses from the air.
If you’re looking for a purifier that can accommodate large spaces, then try our Hydroxyl Blaster. This machine can purify the air and sanitize surfaces in large spaces up to 20,000 square feet. For smaller areas, you might try either our Beyond Guardian Air or Pure & Clean.
